Cloisonne Factory
Chinese Cloisonné is also called "Enamel with copper roughcast and inlayed copper wire"
Chinese Cloisonne is a kind of artwork made of red copper roughcast and decorated colorful glaze. It became well known in the time of Jingtai, the seventh emperor of Ming Dynasty (1450--1456) for the most exquisite production.
The first step is to make a roughcast of the vessel with red copper, such as vase, dish, jar or something. Then the second is to inlay flower pattern with copper wires and weld on roughcasts to form the pattern frame. On the spaces there are many patterns filled with colorful glazes. The roughcast is put into a stove for burn. In order to make it bright, it is polished with coarse sand, fine sand, yellow stone and charcoal in turn, and copper wires are clean and smooth. The last is to gild to increase the luster. The brilliant artwork is completed. |
