Unlike the Ming emperors who were buried in the same burial ground , the Qing emperors had their tombs built symmetrically to the east and west of Beijing . They are Eastern Qing Tombs and Weastern Qing Tombs.

Eastern Qing Tombs are in Zunhua county , Hebei province some 125kilometers east of Beijing. Such emperors as Shunzhi , Kang xi , QianLong , Xian Feng and Tong Zhi were buried . Empress Dowager Cixi , known as Dragon Lady , was buried there , too!

Western Qing Tombs are located in Yixian county , Hebei province more than 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing . Four emperors were buried there . After the founding of the Peoples Republic of China the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty was not buried together with his imperial
family .
